After his potential move to Kaizer Chiefs collapsed due to a transfer deadlock with Mamelodi Sundowns, Thembinkosi Lorch has now attracted interest from Saudi Arabian club Jeddah SC.
Lorch, 31, was among the players Sundowns were open to loaning out during the January transfer window. The former Orlando Pirates star was signed by Rulani Mokwena, but since the coach’s move to Wydad Casablanca, Lorch has struggled for game time at Chloorkop.
While Amakhosi coach Nasreddine Nabi was keen to bring him to Naturena, Sundowns’ valuation of the player proved too high, causing the deal to fall through.
Now, Jeddah SC, who compete in the Saudi First Division League, have stepped in with an offer for a five-month loan deal with an option to buy. The Saudi club, currently 11th in the table, is desperate to strengthen its squad ahead of the second half of the season.
Meanwhile, Wydad Casablanca are also in the race for Lorch’s signature, with Mokwena keen to reunite with his former player. However, Wydad’s pursuit of Young Africans duo Clement Mzize and Stephane Aziz Ki could complicate matters due to foreign player restrictions.
With the Saudi transfer window closing today and Morocco’s window shutting on Friday, Lorch has a limited window to decide his future.
