Relebohile Mofokeng delivered another standout performance as Orlando Pirates secured a dominant 3-0 win over AmaZulu FC, climbing back to the top of the Betway Premiership table on Saturday.

The young star continues to redefine consistency in the league, playing a key role yet again by setting up a goal for Oswin Appollis before finding the back of the net himself with a superb finish that took him into double figures for the season.

From Struggles to Dominance

What makes Mofokeng’s rise even more impressive is how quickly things have changed.

Midway through November, he had no goals or assists and was struggling for a regular place in the starting lineup. His first real impact came with a late assist for Yanele Mbuthuma in a 3-1 win over Lamontville Golden Arrows.

Since then, everything has clicked.

The Best Player in the League Right Now

Since January, Mofokeng has been on another level.

His first goal of the season came in a 2-0 win over Magesi FC, and from that moment, he has not looked back. He now has 10 goals in just 12 matches, along with five assists in that same period.

That’s 15 goal contributions in 12 games.

No one in the league is matching those numbers right now.

Season Numbers Tell the Full Story

Across the season, Mofokeng has produced 17 goal contributions in 18 league starts, with 10 goals and seven assists. In total, he has featured 22 times.

While his impact in other competitions has been limited, with just one assist in nine appearances, most of those games came before his explosive run of form began.

Perfect Timing for Bafana Bafana Push

This kind of form could not have come at a better time.

With the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaching, Mofokeng is now firmly in the conversation for Bafana Bafana selection. He is expected to compete with Themba Zwane for the attacking midfield role behind Lyle Foster.

A Star Already Delivering

Since making his debut in the 2022/23 season, Mofokeng has already built an impressive record, with 29 goals and 30 assists in 120 appearances for Pirates.

Right now, he is not just in form.

He is leading the league.
