Nissan opening

Nissan South Africa has officially opened its new headquarters in Irene, marking a significant step in the company’s commitment to closer engagement with both customers and dealers. This new head office will act as the center for Nissan’s administrative and strategic operations across South Africa and the Independent Markets Africa division.

According to Maciej Klenkiewicz, Managing Director of Nissan South Africa and Independent Markets Africa, the Irene-based headquarters is designed to boost collaboration, improve efficiency, and ultimately enhance customer service. “This new location underscores Nissan’s dedication to creating a progressive, productive workspace for our team,” he noted during the launch event.

The relocation brings key departments—including management, sales, marketing, corporate finance, and communications—to Irene, while Nissan’s manufacturing operations will remain in Rosslyn, where vehicles have been produced for nearly 60 years.

Klenkiewicz emphasized the strategic value of this move: “Separating corporate headquarters from manufacturing allows executives, finance teams, sales staff, and dealer liaisons to be more accessible and build closer connections with end-users, be they retail, fleet, or government clients.” He symbolically cut the ribbon, officially welcoming corporate staff to their new workspace.

The decision to locate corporate functions in a central business area also aligns with global automotive trends and reflects Nissan’s own South African history. “In most countries, OEM headquarters are situated away from production sites to facilitate streamlined operations. In fact, for many years, our head office was in Alice Lane, Sandton, before moving to Midrand in 2004 and then to the Rosslyn plant in 2007. In many ways, this move returns to our roots by re-establishing that separation.”

Nissan’s new corporate offices are situated in the newly developed Irene Link office park in Doringkloof, south of Pretoria, a location chosen for its modern facilities and accessibility.

November looks to be a busy month for Nissan South Africa. Following the celebrated global debut in India, the new Magnite is set to launch in Cape Town on November 12, bringing another exciting chapter for the brand.
